What a blast we had this Dutch Design Week 2017: our biggest Post Modern presentation so far, ánd the sterling IN STIJL exhibition.
The IN STIJL exhibition is initiated by Festival Designkwartier, in association with curators Woes van Haaften and Roosje van Donselaar. As part of the De Stijl-year 2017, contemporary makers BASTIAAN DE NENNIE, SANDER WASSINK, NOMAN STUDIO, STEFAN PETERS, and LEX POTT bring an ode to Piet Mondrian and De Stijl.

As part of the Mondrian/De Stijl-year, Festival Designkwartier The Hague, in association with curators Woes van Haaften and Roosje van Donselaar, initiated the IN STIJL exhibition; a show in which contemporary makers BASTIAAN DE NENNIE, SANDER WASSINK, STEFAN PETERS, LEX POTT, and NOMAN STUDIO bring an ode to PIET MONDRIAN and DE STIJL.
With the financial support of the municipality of The Hague, Netherlands.
The IN STIJL exhibition will be shown during the Dutch Design Week,
21–29 Oct 2017.

POST MODERN COLLECTION
Post Modern features a growing collection of affordable postcard sized artworks created by well-known artists and designers.
During the Dutch Design Week 2017 POST MODERN will present and sell tiny, affordable, one-of-a-kind, handmade artworks by:

IN STIJL, de tentoonstelling
19 – 28 mei 2017
Locatie: Quartair, Toussaintkade 55, Den Haag

In het kader van het Mondriaan/De Stijl-jaar, organiseert Festival Designkwartier, hét Haagse festival voor de toepaste kunsten, i.s.m. curatoren Woes van Haaften & Roosje van Donselaar de tentoonstelling IN STIJL; een expositie waarbij de hedendaagse makers BASTIAAN DE NENNIE, SANDER WASSINK, NOMAN STUDIO, STEFAN PETERS en LEX POTT een ode brengen aan Mondriaan en De Stijl.
Net als de leden van De Stijl destijds deden, volgen deze makers van nu de ideologie en beeldtaal van Mondriaan. De nieuwe werken die zij speciaal ontwikkelen voor de tentoonstelling zijn eigentijdse interpretaties van de iconische wereld van Mondriaan en De Stijl.
Mondriaan’s ontwikkeling inspireerde destijds een stroming van makers uit verschillende disciplines tot: De Stijl. Tezamen streefden zij naar een nieuwe vorm van kunst, die voor iedereen leesbaar was en één die aansloot bij het moderne leven. Via de makers van De Stijl kreeg de beeldtaal van Mondriaan een prominente rol in de maatschappij. Dit kwam tot uiting in o.a. architectuur, textieltoepassingen en grafische vormgeving.
Onze ambitie is niet alleen het brengen van een ode, ook worden nieuwe visuele vertalingen getoond vanuit Mondriaan’s visie. De IN STIJL tentoonstelling laat zien hoe makers van nu met hun eigentijdse mentaliteit en tools een nieuwe laag aan het werk en gedachtegoed van Mondriaan toevoegen.
Deze expositie maakt duidelijk dat Mondriaan’s nalatenschap diep doordrongen is tot in het DNA van het hedendaagse ontwerpen, zo dwingt ‘Mondriaan’ nog telkens tot nieuwe uitdrukkingsmogelijkheden.

Op woensdag 22 maart 2017, 20:00–21:00, ben ik gastdocent in Het Klaslokaal in De School.
De les gaat over een persoonlijke zoektocht naar een eigen, professionele positie in het culturele veld. Een goed concept is belangrijk, maar hoe rol je het uit en positioneer je het. Kunst in context plaatsen, het als een wereld presenteren.
Voor deze les kan je online een kaartje kopen. Deze geeft je toegang tot de les met daarnaast een heerlijke kom authentieke ramen noodles in Café DS, vóór of ná de les.

In the middle of the night, all things look the same. With the absence of light, colors disappear. What is left, are shapes, textures and the reflection of light. NOX is a multidisciplinary exhibition at gallery OODE, curated by Niek Schoenmakers and Marleen Kurvers. An ode to the color black.
